Carrie LeAnn Erickson, 52, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the home of her parents in East Galesburg.

Carrie was born on October 8, 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the daughter of Bobby M. and Sally R. (Hay) Batterson. She married her husband, Scott G. Erickson on December 31, 1998. Together they celebrated 24 years of marriage. Carrie is survived by her loving husband, Scott; her two children, Nathan D. and Elaina N. Erickson, both of Knoxville; her parents, Bob and Sally Batterson of East Galesburg; her brother, Kyle (Nicki Varner) Batterson of Wataga; her niece Kaitlin Batterson of Galesburg, and her nephew Austin Batterson, of Wataga; her Aunt Denise Hay of Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Paisley, who was the apple of her eye; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her Uncle Larry Hay.

Carrie graduated from Galesburg High School. She then went on to study at Illinois College and Washington University of St. Louis where she earned a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. She was an Occupational Therapist for the Knox/Warren Special Education District for 23 years. Carrie was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Galesburg. She also participated in Choral Dynamics.  She previously served on the Discovery Depot Board, and on the Chrysalis Journey Weekend team. Carrie enjoyed camping, scrapbooking, binge watching shows on her phone, scrolling through Facebook but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.  She especially loved her Nana time with Paisley.

Per Carrie’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of her life will be held on July 9, 2023 at the Vault in Galesburg, IL from 2PM till 6PM with a memorial toast in her honor at 4PM.   Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent to P.O. Box 11, Knoxville, IL 61448. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory, Knoxville have been entrusted with her arrangements.
