Carrie Emmogene "Jean" Samples, 85, of Satsuma, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital.
Jean was born in Portersville, West Virginia and had been a resident of Putnam County for the past 19 years coming from Jacksonville. She was a homemaker, a business partner to her husband, Bob, and was a member the First Baptist Church of Palatka. She enjoyed crafting, fishing, cooking, gardening, sewing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also involved with her husband in various family businesses. She was very mechanically minded and could fix almost anything. She was strong and steady influence on her entire family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Samples; her parents, James Franklin Dailey and Inez Olva Turley Dailey; brothers, Mylo Dailey, George Dailey, and Leo Dailey; sisters Lois Pennington and Ruth Cox.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Samples, Jr. (Lori) and Barry Samples (Lee); a brother, Fred Dailey (Peggy); two sisters, Bonnie Dailey and Jane Dailey; five grandchildren, Deidra, Staci, Robert, III, Kristopher, and Brittany; and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka.
