Published by Legacy on Sep. 17, 2025.
Carroll E. Francis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 18, 1937, in Bryan, Texas, Carroll lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep commitment to his family and faith.
For over 40 years, Carroll dedicated himself to the heating and air conditioning trade, pouring his expertise into every project he undertook. His trade became a lifelong passion. As he approached retirement and found climbing into attics no longer possible, he embraced the role of mentor, training younger men to carry on the legacy of his craft. His passion for his work was only matched by his caring, giving nature, and kind-hearted spirit, traits that endeared him to many who had the privilege of knowing him.
Perhaps most notably, Carroll was a man of quiet faith. As an ordained deacon, he served numerous churches throughout Brazos County, where he shared his strong belief in God and imparted wisdom to those around him. His faith guided his actions and provided a foundation for his life, which was enriched by church fellowship and close community ties. He also proudly served six years in the Army Reserves, a testament of dedication to his country and community.
After 65 years of marriage, his love for his wife, Lydia Mae George Francis, may well be the crowning jewel of his life. Together, they built a family steeped in love and connection, cherishing each moment spent around the dinner table during family get-togethers where laughter and storytelling flowed freely. Family time included many trips to Johnson City, TX and Indiana to visit extended family.
Outside of his professional life, he loved hunting and fishing and found peace in the great outdoors. Carroll enjoyed working on the family farm raising pigs, chickens, and cattle. He actively participated in his children's 4-H clubs and passed that love down to his children and grandchildren.
Carroll Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lydia Mae George Francis; his son, Melton Francis; his parents, W.G. Francis and Opal Summerville Francis; his brothers, Donald Francis and Buddy Francis; his sister, Edith Francis Morgan; his sister-in-law, Connie Francis; his brother-in-law, Willie Morgan; and his parents-in-law, William George and Nannie Mae George.
Carroll Francis is survived by his loving son, Moe Francis, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Francis; his devoted daughter, Tammy Francis Clossin; and his loving son, Patrick Francis, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Francis; his sister Vivian Altimore and brother-in-law Dana Altimore. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, great-grandfather of eight, and great-great-grandfather of one. Carroll also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews who will remember him with love. His family will forever carry his warmth, wisdom, and spirit in their hearts.
Carroll leaves a legacy defined by his kindness, work ethic, and love. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family, whose lives he touched with his compassionate spirit and unwavering support. His memory will undoubtedly live on through the stories shared and the lessons imparted to future generations. Carroll E. Francis was a remarkable man whose quiet strength and devotion to faith, family, and friends will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
