Carroll Parsons, 83, of Plainfield, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 after complications from surgery. She was born in Washington, D.C. and was a daughter of the late, Eugene and Walnah (Peterson) George, Sr. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Allen Parsons, Jr., her daughter, Linda Woodard, her son, Donald Parsons, grandson, Daniel Woodard, two brothers, Eugene “Skip” George, Jr. and Walter Halvard George, and her treasured Aunt Dorothea Peterson, who was very influential in steering Carroll towards nursing.
Carroll graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH before attending Indiana University, where she received a B.S. and M.S. in Nursing and worked as a board-certified Women’s Health-Nurse Practitioner for over 40 years.
Carroll was a member of the AWHONN, Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses; NPRH, Nurse Practitioners in Reproductive Health, and the AAUW, American Association of University Women, and the National Honor Society. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader for many years as the kids were growing up. She led birthing classes, helping many friends and family members through the process as they started their families. She and Allen loved to travel on the University sponsored trips, Europe being one of her favorite destinations to experience history. In her quiet time, Carroll enjoyed reading novels and working crossword puzzles, most of all being with family.
Carroll is survived by her; children, Earl (Veronica St. Cyr) Parsons of Thorntown, Chuck (Tracie) Parsons of Plainfield, Mitch (Jennifer Christy) Parsons of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Belle, Elisha, Edith, Bonnie, Jules, Violet, and Josey Parsons, Amanda Thompson, Kevin and Adam Summers, Alexis Parsons, and Olivia, Casey and Carly Christy; 5 great-grandchildren; family-friends, Doug Wyneken and Kenny Gilliam; nephew, Jeff George, and nieces, Rebecca Rodriquez and Stephanie George.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 4712 Pennsylvania St. CLAYTON, IN 46118. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow.
