Carroll Diane Steinbacher, 76, of Sanford, passed away at her home on August 19, 2025. She was born August 19, 1949 in Midland, daughter of the late Seymour "Richard" and Ladonna Storms. Carroll attended Midland Public schools and graduated from Meridian High School. She worked for several grocery stores through the years, eventually retiring from Giant Food Stores. Deciding she enjoyed her job too much, Carroll went back to work part time, until retiring for the second time only a few weeks ago. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was an avid reader with a vast home library. Carroll's "happy place" was being outside in her own back yard, tending to her gardens. She enjoyed watching nature as the birds and butterflies flitted through her flowers. More than anything, she loved helping people. Her vivacious spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Carroll is survived by her son, Clayton (April) Bergeron; grandson, Jared Bergeron; brother, Richard (Sharon) Storms; and sister, Catherine Boos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Del (Clara) Marchington.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
