Caryl Zoe Taylor, age 91, of Howe, Indiana, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

She was born on July 31, 1934, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Dr. Paul and Alice (Barber) Hanna.

Caryl dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse, working with Homebound Healthcare. Her compassion and quiet dedication were evident both in her career and in her personal life.

Outside of nursing, Caryl found joy in quilting and tending to her garden, pursuits that reflected her patience, creativity, and love of simple beauty.

On June 24, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, she married Theodore R. "Ted" Taylor. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter, Lynn Thompson, who passed away in 1999.

Caryl is survived by her son, Lance P. Taylor of Howe, Indiana; her two sisters, Mary Gebhart of Denver, Colorado and Paula (Ed) Spletzer of Chicago, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her niece and devoted caregiver, Mary Alice Gebhart, whose loving care and support meant so much to Caryl and her family.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Caryl's remains will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana.
