Casey Tyler Rahmeier was born on October 10, 1983, in Lawrence, Kansas. He was the third child of five born to Robert (Bob) and DeAnn Rahmeier. Casey grew up in close relationship with all of his siblings, and as a middle child, truly played the peacemaker, easygoing role for his siblings and his family.

Casey went to Schwegler and Sunflower Elementary Schools and Southwest Middle School. In these years, Casey’s athletic skills became apparent. Although all of the Rahmeiers are athletic, Casey was always the one who could master a sport with ease. Casey went on to be a three-sport varsity athlete in high school, lettering in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Casey’s family knows that his favorite place to be was home, but a close second was on a baseball field, a basketball court, or a soccer field.

Casey played on a traveling baseball team for a number of years; the entire family has fond memories of going all over the Midwest for Casey’s baseball tournaments. From Golden, Colorado to Austin, Texas the family covered many miles with Casey as he played the sport he loved most. When Casey was in middle school and his grandma, Pearl Schneider, asked each of the children what they wanted to be when they grew up, Casey confidently answered, “A Major League pitcher.” Casey’s dreams of playing professional baseball weren’t even deterred when, in middle school, he got his teeth knocked out by an errant throw from a catcher.

Casey graduated from Lawrence High School in May 2002 and went on to Highland Community College to take his basic college courses and continue playing baseball. As happened in every stage of his life, Casey made lifelong friends during his time at Highland.

In August 2004, Casey went on to the University of Missouri – Rolla (now known as Missouri University of Science and Technology), where Casey showed that he could be a true scholar-athlete, as he majored in engineering and continued to play baseball. Again, Casey made wonderful lifelong friends during his time at UMR.

In 2006, Casey met the love of his life, Melissa (Francisco) Rahmeier. Melissa was about to begin dental school at UMKC and Casey was working towards completing his undergraduate studies in Rolla, so Melissa would occasionally travel the backroads of Missouri to visit Casey in Rolla. It is safe to say that both Casey and Melissa were happy to have Casey move to Kansas City after he graduated from UMR.

Casey and Melissa got married in Kansas City on October 2, 2010. They moved to Phoenix in July 2011 to be closer to Melissa’s family. While they were in Phoenix, Casey and Melissa welcomed Rory Tyler Rahmeier on August 8, 2013 and then Graeme Daniel Rahmeier on March 29, 2015.

Although Casey and Melissa enjoyed being close to Melissa’s family in Phoenix, they missed friends and Midwest living. In October 2016, Casey and Melissa moved to Leawood, Kansas. In the Kansas City area, they reconnected with lifelong friends and made new friends, especially as Rory and Graeme started school at Brookwood Elementary in the Shawnee Mission School District.

Casey and Melissa completed their family when they welcomed Rhys Frederick Rahmeier on July 16, 2018. As each of the boys became interested in sports, Casey found it a natural fit to coach their various sports teams, passing on his love of athletic endeavors to the next generation. Family friends grew accustomed to viewing Casey as the coach for their own children, and Casey’s love for both sports and family was apparent by the number of hours he spent devoted to his own children’s athletic pursuits.

In addition to time spent with family and friends, Casey also enjoyed his time at his work. Casey began his professional engineering career at Black & Veatch in Kansas City, and spent the majority of his career at POWER Engineers, where Casey was known as “a great family man and an exceptional coworker.” Through his warm demeanor and kind smile, Casey developed deep friendships both at work and in his personal life. As all who knew him will attest, to know Casey was to love him. Casey always had the best interests of everyone in mind.

Although Casey left us way too early and will be missed by so many, he will live on through all of the lives he touched and all of the love he so generously shared, especially with those who were closest to him.

Casey is survived by his wife, Melissa (Francisco) Rahmeier; his children: Rory, Graeme, and Rhys; his parents: DeAnn Rahmeier and Bob (Genia) Rahmeier; his siblings: Nathan (Anne) Rahmeier, Meghan (Tyler) Huslig, Jacob (Lauren) Rahmeier, and Caleb Rahmeier; his half-brother Brad (Elizabeth) Woods; many nieces and nephews; and many family and friends.

PLEASE NOTE: "If family and friends purchased any "At Bat for Casey" or "Casey-Cola" apparel, please feel welcome to wear it to the service. The boys who were fortunate to have had Casey coach them are also welcome to wear their jerseys. Casey would love this"
