Cassandra Jensen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 27, 2024.

Cassandra "Cassi" Moss Loving Jensen, 74, went on her final journey home, in Oklahoma City, on October 24, 2024, following a valiant fight with cancer.

Cassandra Moss "Cassi" Loving Jensen was born June 1st, 1950, in Oklahoma City, as the first of five children of William "Bill" Loving and Rosemary Mowder. Her childhood ultimately found its home in Ponca City, where Cassi would graduate high school in the class of 1968.

Never one for conformity, Cassi left Ponca City after a brief stint at college to move to Kansas City and then east to New York City. She would spend the 1970s enthralled in the Manhattan lifestyle, working initially as an au pair. In her free time, Cassi enjoyed the Lower East Side music scene and the vibrant life of NYC. Later, she would get an administrative job at Schumacher, a large textile company, where she would meet her husband of nearly 45 years, Robert "Bob" Jensen. The couple married in 1980 and had two daughters, Kristen and Rena, of whom she was immensely proud. The family relocated and made New Jersey their home, and Cassi found true happiness in her role as a full-time mother. Once her daughters were in college, Cassi went back to work at Wegman's, fulfilling many customer service roles, as well as making some great friends.

In 2009, with the news of her mother Rosemary's illness, Cassi and Bob moved to Oklahoma City to help care for her. Cassi would spend the final 15 years of her life in Oklahoma City, engaged with a love of photography, writing, clay sculpting, and of course - cats.

Her family and friends truly remember Cassi as one-of-a-kind;, someone who wouldn't sugar coat the truth, but BOY did she love her family and friends! She was strong-willed and outspoken, especially on the subject of politics. She would spend hours chatting with people, some of whom lived halfway across the world but shared Cassi's taste for the eclectic.

Cassi spent the final two and half years of her life battling ovarian cancer, which demonstrated how much of a warrior she had become. She embraced the title 'Badass Matriarch' and it fit her well. Cassi found comfort in sharing stories of her illness with other people, and on Facebook's Ovarian Cancer Support Group page, while continuing to engage in the pastimes that always brought her happiness. The biggest joy in Cassi's recent life was the birth of her granddaughter, Linda Ruth, in 2021. Linda was the apple of her eye, and Cassi made sure everyone knew it.

Cassi was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Colin Loving. She is survived by her husband, Bob Jensen, of the home; her daughters Kristen Jensen, of New Jersey, and Rena Jensen of New York City; her son-in-laws Pete Meriwether and Brian Heffernan, and her granddaughter, Linda Ruth Heffernan. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses; Kevin and Beth Loving of Colorado, Candis Loving and John Vechazone of Florida, and Cari Loving and Ben Duke of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind her nieces, Lianna Loving (Andrew Serna) and Talia Vechazone; and nephews Kyle Loving, Colin Ferguson and Connor Ferguson, as well as her beloved cat and companion, Wilma.

In accordance with Cassi's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Cassi wanted people to remember her in their own way. The family will have a Celebration of Life in her honor in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, in her memory.

It´s been more than 50 years since Cassi came down the elevator for our first date. A good friend of mine from Kansas City had written to me and described her as "beautiful, bountiful and poetic." All true. May she rest in peace.

Cassi, I remember first meeting at the bus stop when Chuck, I and Tara first moved into green hollow. I enjoyed spending times with you as the children of neighbor played together. We shared many of the house parties (Tupperware, etc.), between the 4-6 houses. What a hoot we had. Was so glad that I was able to get a message to you via Kristen. And you better believe i will make sure I see you in your new home. Many fond memories of you i will cherish.
