Ms. Cassandra "Cat" Derrick-Peebles, was born July 20, 1961, in Madison County, Alabama to the late Tommy Jolly and Emma Jean Derrick Jolly. She departed her life May 31, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Peebles, Sr., their daughter Keisha Peebles, her father Tommy Jolly and two brothers Leonard Derrick and Ronald Jolly. Cassandra joined church in September of 1978 and was active online with Flint River Primitive Baptist Church. In High School she served on the JROTC team at Huntsville High School.
She was married to the late Richard Leon Peebles in May of 1981. To this union five children were born: Richard Peebles, Jr. (Nicole) of Huntsville, AL, Quincy Peebles (Ja-Etta) of Madison, AL, Tessinie Perkins (Andre`) of Huntsville, AL and Yulonda "MaShayla" Derrick (Chanel) of Huntsville, AL, six grandchildren: De'Avais Jones, DeAndre Perkins, DeAna Peebles, Jayden Peebles, JaMir Peebles, and a bonus grandbaby "Baby Libbi".
She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Emma Jean Derrick Jolly; one sister, Shawnda Jolly; five brothers: Lorenzo Derrick, Clyde Derrick, Otha (Vanessa) Jolly, Tommy (Julie) Jolly, and Michael Jolly; stepsister, Dorthy Green; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, and her A1 since day 1 Patricia (Diane) Peebles.
The funeral service for Ms. Cassandra Derrick Peebles' will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Flint River Primitive Baptist Church (213 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811) with Pastor Gregory Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Ms. Peebles will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
