Cassandra Jennifer Taylor West was born on June 21, 1957 to the late Mary Taylor Session and the late Perry Session in Tucson, Arizona. Cassandra was known as ‘Sissy’ to her family and close friends. Cassandra made her transition into eternity on November 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. At an early age Cassandra and her family moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she grew up and attended the Elizabeth public school system. She was also an active member of Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ, which established her early Christian life. Cassandra graduated from Battin High School in 1975. She not only received her high school diploma but it also allowed her to cultivate and establish life-long relationships with many of her high school classmates (Called the Battinistas). The Battinistas would frequently get together and enjoy each other’s company and life’s journey. They would even wear matching Battinista outfits out in public. Cassandra married Linwell West on September 14, 2000 at Emmanuel Tabernacle Assembly of God. They celebrated their 25th anniversary after 24 years on September 28, 2024. They were so anxious and excited they didn’t want to wait until 2025. Cassandra worked for various companies over the years as an administrative and day care assistant at; Mattel’s, Hanover Insurance, JM Graphics, Fox Property Management and Bunny’s Day Care. Cassandra was a faithful member of Emmanuel Tabernacle Assembly of God, led by Pastor Ron E. Young. She served on the Usher Board, Choir and founder of the young girls and teen ministry. Anyone who knows Cassandra knows that her grandchildren were the core of her existence. She loved children and would be seen with one or more wherever she went. She loved being called Nana and they adored her. Cassandra is survived by: her loving husband, Linwell West, her four daughters; Tiffany Taylor, Tailishae Taylor, Nadirah Donaldson and Jahtaya Donaldson; Ten Grandchildren, Brandon “BJ” George Jr. (Jayda), Brendon George (Eli), Isaiah Taylor (Zay), Noah Taylor (No No), Breanna Taylor (Bre), Tairae Holloway (Rae), Daniel Taylor (Dunk), Tyronn Holloway (Tyronius), Tyler Holloway (Tippy) and Dalia Donaldson (Dee dee) ; one great grandson, Jakobi George(little man) Preceded in death by her grandson Aaron J. Gates who she called “Pooh Bear” She is also survived by her brothers; Tim (Deborah) Taylor, Perry (Alethea) Session, her Sisters, Loretta Cummings and Janeen Maybanks. Sister in laws Renee Storm, Yvette Babosa (Tony), Tonya Tanjigori, and Angelic Sylvester Preceded in death by her sister Stephanie Maybank. She also leaves behind a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces,Nephews and cousins and dear friends.
