We are heartbroken to share that Cassie A. Horrell-Duncan, a cherished daughter, sister, wife, and mother, passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 36. Born on December 8, 1988, Cassie was a beacon of love and strength, whose impact on the lives she touched will forever be felt.
Known affectionately as a “Super Mom,” Cassie dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. She was a warrior. She had a level of strength that was unmatched. No matter how hard the time or task, she would conquer it. She would do so with love, patience, understanding, and beauty.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kyle J. Duncan Sr., who loves her eternally. Together, they created a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. Cassie was an extraordinary mother to her three children: Jaidyn Duncan, Kyle Duncan Jr., and Serena Duncan. She taught them to love, respect, and support all people. She parented in a way her children could be themselves. Take risk, be bold, be loud, make mistakes and not be afraid because they knew what awaited. Love, patience, guidance.
Cassie's family was her Everything. She is also survived by her mother, Janice Horrell, whose love and support shaped Cassie into the remarkable woman she became. Her siblings, Caleb Horrell and Malachi Horrell, will carry on her legacy of strength. Cassie's nephew, Micah Horrell, was one of her greatest treasures. Her love extended to many, including her best friend, her rock, her Pookie - Mandy Thrasher and her mother-in-law, Sue Duncan.
An avid dog lover, Cassie found companionship in loving not only her pets, Nibbler and Leela, who brought her joy and comfort, but also countless others pets that she loved and cared for: Sammy, Maro, and Kiley Bear, to name a few. She knew the special bond between humans and dogs and cherished every moment with them.
Though the world has lost a bright light, Cassie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her father, Dennis A. Horrell, whose love remains a guiding presence; her brother-in-law, David I. Duncan; her sister-in-law, Shante R. Duncan; and her brother-in-law, Curtis B. Hendrickson. Additionally, her close friend, Sarah Dudley, along with her beloved pets, Mocha and Sparky, who have crossed the rainbow bridge.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio with her Cassie's services starting at 4:00pm.
Cassie A. Horrell-Duncan’s life was a remarkable tapestry woven with threads of love, compassion, and resilience. Her spirit will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known her. The legacy she leaves behind is one of unconditional love, reminding us all to cherish our families and to give generously of our hearts.
