Catalina Ester Angulo, 90, of Rex, GA, passed away July 21, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Catalina was born November 25, 1934, to Jose and Rebecca (Hernandez) Gutierrez in Barranquilla, Colombia. She grew up in Barranquilla alongside her parents and her two brothers. Catalina earned her high school diploma and followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, taking everything she had learned through the years, to becoming a successful Seamstress.

While in school, Catalina met the most handsome young man by the name of Luis, and was quickly smitten. The couple were wed in Cartagena, Colombia and later had three children. Catalina and Luis were blessed to have 65 years of love together. The couple came to the United States and lived in Queens, NY, Atlanta, GA, and settling in Rex, GA.

Mrs. Angulo was very passionate about sewing and also enjoyed telling stories and talking with and spending time with her family and those she loved. She spent the last years of her life helping to raise her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, and she wouldn't have traded that time with them for anything!

She will always be remembered for her laughter and her wittiness. She was Abuela to everyone who knew her.

Catalina was preceded in death by her parents: Jose and Rebecca Gutierrez; her brothers: Nando Gutierrez and Raul Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband: Luis Felipe Angulo; her children: Alvaro (Irma) Angulo of Honduras, Juan (Erica) Angulo of NYC, and Rebecca Cabrera of Atlanta; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mrs. Angulo's life will be held Saturday August 2, 2025, at 11 AM at Georgia Cremation.

The Angulo family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation -Fayetteville, 1086 Hwy 54 West, Fayetteville, Ga 30214.
