Cheryl Jean Foy, age 78, passed away on September 12, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Cheryl was born in Griffin, Georgia, on January 9 th, 1947, to Ray and Joyce (Putman) Lynch. She grew up in the Griffin and Hapeville areas alongside her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Cheryl earned her high school diploma from Griffin High School and went on to attend college classes for Cosmetology. She had a life-long career as a hairdresser, owning several salons throughout the years. Cheryl loved her career and the friends she met through her work.

In the winter of 1982 Cheryl entered into wedded bliss when she married her soulmate, David. The couple had 39 loving years, and a multitude of memories made together until David's passing in 2021.

Cheryl was very athletic throughout her lifetime. In her 20s and 30s, she enjoyed playing softball and later on in life she took up golf. She really enjoyed the outdoor sports. After having grandkids, Cheryl was widely known to everyone as Nana. She was so proud to be a Nana, proud of her grandkids and her great-grandkids, and spending time with all of her babies was one of favorite things to do!

Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness. She will be remembered for her take-charge personality; she could always push through and get things done. Cheryl was a firecracker in the best way who loved her family immensely.

Ms. Foy was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Joyce Lynch; and her husband: Dave Foy; She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons: Shane Long of Griffin, Ga and Stacy Long of NE; her grandchildren: Gage Long (Kiirsten) of Pike Co., Ga, Tanner Long of NE, Colton Long also of NE, and Austin Long of Iceland; her brothers: Keith Lynch of Pike Co., Ga, and Tommy Lynch (Peggy) of Clayton Co., Ga; and her sisters: Peggy Rankin (Ron) of Spalding Co., Ga, and Vicki Hughes (Roger) also of Spalding Co., Ga; and her very special fur-babies, her cats: Ryder, Charlie, and Sylvester.

A private celebration of Cheryl's life will be held with those closest to her at a later date.
