On September 7, 2025, Catherine (nee Rowland) passed away in Stratford where she had been a longtime resident. Born to James and Margaret Rowland. She spent her early years in Shenandoah, PA, Catherine moved to Philadelphia and attended Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls. She was a longtime, devoted parishioner of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Stratford.
Catherine was also known as Cass and Cathy was happiest being a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a faithful and dedicated friend to many. Her hardworking, cheerful, and loving personality was an inspiration to all. She was the first to volunteer both time and effort when duty called in all aspects of life.
She spent many years working at the Zallie's Laurel Hill ShopRite deli department where she was known as the "Cheese Lady". She would hand out slices of cheese to all of the children who came in with their parents. Her love of babies and children was legendary.
Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Paul Alexander as well as her 6 brothers and sisters, John, Thomas, James, Eleanor, Marie and Margaret. She is lovingly survived by her two sons Steve (Denise) and Paul (Janet), her grandchildren Dan, Meghan, Kate, Kevin, Greg, Erin, Emily; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Francis Rowland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, September 13th from 9:30 - 10:45 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church (Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish), 55 Warwick Road, Stratford, NJ where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
