Catherine Love Barrett

Mrs. Catherine Love Barrett, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, just days after celebrating her 97th birthday. Born on March 20, 1929, in Kings Creek, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Love and Macie Bird Love.

Catherine was married to her beloved husband, William Barrett, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.

Catherine is survived by her daughter Pat Strawn (Mike), her granddaughters Shannon Tilley (Adam) and Katie Long (John), two great-grandchildren Aidan and Emma Tilley, many beloved nieces and nephews, and some very special friends who were like family to her.

For almost 40 years, Catherine enjoyed working as a buyer at Belk store services in Charlotte. Her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on those with whom she worked.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was known for her vibrant personality and zest for life. Outgoing and full of humor, Catherine brought joy to everyone she encountered. She had a deep love for people and found great fulfillment in helping others. Catherine lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to her family, her many friends, her church, and the community.

An avid traveler, Catherine and her late husband Bill achieved the remarkable feat of visiting all 50 states during their 50 plus years of marriage. Her adventurous spirit was reflected in how much she enjoyed experiencing new places and meeting new people.

Her faith was central to her life; Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She remained active in church throughout her life. Catherine would go above and beyond to assist her friends and church family-a testament to her selfless nature, unwavering kindness, and servant heart.

The family is thankful for the love and compassion shown to Catherine by the assisted living community where she resided for the last few years, Chandler Place in Rock Hill.

Catherine leaves behind a great legacy of love, laughter, and friendship. May the memories of her fun and outgoing personality bring comfort to those who loved her dearly. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 1pm, at Flint Hill Baptist Church located at 269 Flint Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 12pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
