Catherine I. Bieber

Catherine I. "Cass" (Zweizig) Bieber, 97, of Kutztown, died Monday, January 5, 2026, peacefully while under hospice care in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Russell C. Bieber who died May 6, 1971; and was the companion of the late Cleon Boyer, who died March 29, 2000. Born in Perry Township, Berks County, Cass was a daughter of the late Robert A. and Laura M. (Stoudt) Zweizig. She was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and very active with many committees within the church. She could be often be found in the church kitchen preparing meals for church gatherings and celebrations throughout the year.

Catherine was a graduate of Perry High School, Class of 1946. She was employed for many years as a laborer at the former Deisher's Knitting Mill, Kutztown.

Cass was an active volunteer with the Kutztown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Catherine is survived by Cleon's family, his children, which she adoringly considered her own, Dianne C. (Boyer), wife of Harry A. McGonigle, Kutztown; and Donald C., widower of Doreen A. (Karver) Boyer, Topton; grandchildren: Ryan Watt and Adam Watt; and great grandson Cooper Watt. Other survivors include a sister, Marion (Zweizig) Dietrich, Tilden Township. In addition to her husband, Russell, companion Cleon, and parents, Cass was predeceased by brothers: Walter, Robert, Leroy and John Zweizig.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, where Cass will be inurned next to her late husband Russell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Catherine's memory be considered to Saint John's Lutheran Church, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, PA 19530.
