Columbia, SC.
She was the wife of the late William Brisbon Jr., they were married for many beautiful years and blessed with the births of ten children. Catherine worked for many years in the Lee County School System as a paraprofessional with primary students. She was very active in her community by selflessly giving to charities, cooking and feeding everyone she could, and providing a place of refuge as needed. The neighborhood children loved her biscuits so much that they would call to place their order prior to returning home from school breaks. Her love for flowers allowed her to grow beautiful gardens and maintain the best landscaping in the neighborhood. She loved to travel to many different places to gain memories and experiences that she could share with her family.
Mrs. Brisbon was a dedicated member of St. John AME Church where she sang on the choir, participated in the Missionary Ministry and many other auxiliaries.
Catherine was very active in the Women's Empowerment movement and also attended the 1977 International Women's Year Oral History Collection where she was interviewed. The Interview was placed in the Oral History Collection (digital.library.sc.edu) where she advised that Women should be empowered to care for themselves, and she was inspired to never retire. She was a faithful member of the Cantey Chapter #178 Eastern Star for more than 65 years; and the Rite of Adoption for the State of South Carolina and Jurisdiction.
