Catherine Cassizzi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cassizzi Funeral Home on Mar. 14, 2023.
Catherine Criniti Cassizzi, 102, of Philadelphia, PA, peacefully passed away in her sleep in the early morning of March 13, 2023.
Catherine was born on March 15, 1920 as the eldest daughter of 10 children to Vincenzo (Jimmy) and Teresa Criniti in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She left school after 9th grade to help support her family by working in clothing factories as a seamstress and clothing inspector.
Catherine met Alexander Cassizzi at the factory where they were both working. She and Alexander married in 1945 and went on to have two children, Angelica and Theresa.
After working in the factories for many years, she left to join her husband in his tailoring shop. Catherine worked in the apparel industry for over 50 years. She was passionate about her work and making sure it was always the best quality.
Catherine retired in 1989 after the closure of Alex's tailoring shop. While retired, she had time to pursue her love of dancing and playing cards.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Alexander, her daughter, Angelica, her parents, Vincenzo and Teresa, and siblings Anthony (Tony), Nicholas (Nick), Dominic, Peter (Chickie), Victoria (Vicky), Francis (Frankie), Rose, Mary, and Vincent. She is survived by her daughter Theresa Scheidel and her husband David, her grandchildren Kathleen, David II, Jason, Peter, Christine, and Jacqueline, and 19 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Mother of Divine Grace Catholic Church on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 9 in the morning with Mass following at 10:30. Internment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
