Mrs. Catherine Clark age 80 of Orlando, FL and formerly of Marianna, FL passed away Friday July 4, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 19, 1945, in Marianna, Florida, Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Brown Sr. and Mary Catherine Brown. As one of twelve siblings, she was raised in a home built on love, resilience, and faith. At an early age, Catherine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Antioch AME Church, where she served faithfully for many years.
Catherine graduated from Jackson County Training School in 1963 and went on to pursue nursing at Kansas City Community College. Her adventurous spirit led her to spend time in Buffalo, New York, with her brother and family - just one reflection of her love for life, exploration, and connection.
Throughout her spiritual journey, Catherine later became a member of Springfield AME Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir. At Antioch AME Church, she was a dedicated YPD coordinator, youth choir organizer, Bible study teacher, stewardess, trustee, and missionary. Her heart for ministry and her community knew no bounds.
Professionally, Catherine wore many hats with grace and devotion. She worked as a seamstress in Marianna, served as a nurse's aide in a convalescent home for nearly a decade, and later found great joy working at Hope School, a school for children with special needs. Her compassion for the elderly and children was evident in every role she held. Ultimately, she retired from Jackson County Schools as a paraprofessional - leaving behind a legacy of care, kindness, and service.
Catherine's life was rich with passions. She loved gardening, writing, fishing, and supporting her children in their many activities. She remained deeply active in her community - feeding the hungry, ministering at the Jackson County Convalescent Center, reading scripture, bringing communion, organizing programs for the elderly, and hosting gospel quartet groups. Her joy was contagious, her prayers powerful, and her praise uninhibited - she never hesitated to glorify God, no matter where she was.
Catherine Clark peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on July 4, 2025, surrounded by love at her residence at MJ Pavilion. A woman of unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and remarkable strength, Catherine lived a life that honored God, uplifted her family, and served her community.
Even in her final days, Catherine continued to touch lives. The compassionate staff at MJ Pavilion shared stories of her warmth, laughter, prayers, and encouragement. Her tenacity for love, unwavering faith, and boundless generosity remained constant.
Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Clark Jr.; her parents, Robert Brown Sr. and Mary Catherine Brown; and ten of her siblings.
She is now reunited with them in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her five beloved children - Robert Lee Clark (Lisa) of Orlando, FL; Richard Lamar Clark (Angela) of Little Elm, TX; Lorenzo Preston Clark (Kimberly) of St. Cloud, FL; Cornelius Vincent Clark (Sheri) of Tampa, FL; and Catherine Victoria Clark of Orlando, FL; her dear sister, Betty J.
