Catherine T. Cusick, 91, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the Red Bank Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in New Jersey. Born on August 9, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, Catherine's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and the simple joys that make a life well-lived.

The daughter of the late Francis and Frances (DeMaria) Seery, Catherine was a Brooklyn girl at heart. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Daniel Cusick, who predeceased her. Together, they embarked on a journey of love, laughter, and family, a journey that saw them move to Minnesota in 1976 and return to their beloved Brooklyn in 1984. After years of creating memories and building a legacy, they retired to Mays Landing, New Jersey, in 2001. Catherine later moved to Keyport in 2019, following Daniel's passing, where she continued to be a pillar of strength and love for her family.

A woman of many interests, Catherine found pleasure in the simple things. She was an exceptional baker, cook, and a green-thumbed gardener, creating beauty both in her kitchen and in her garden. Her competitive spirit shone through during game nights, where she enjoyed board games and card games alike. She also enjoyed settling down with a good movie and spent countless hours reading. Catherine took great pride in her family heritage, and her stories and traditions will live on through the generations.

Catherine's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Cusick, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Clement DeFilippi, and her daughter-in-law, Jean Cusick.

Catherine was the cherished mother of Michael Cusick of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Kevin Cusick of Bloomington, Minnesota, Thomas Cusick of Virginia, Minnesota, Theresa Smith and her husband Kenny of Hazlet, and Karen Burke and her husband Dave of Keyport. Her siblings, Lucille Guccione and Thomas Seery, along with his wife Dorothy, will fondly remember their sister's warmth and kindness.

Catherine's legacy includes her adored grandchildren, Brian Cusick, Kaitlin Figurelli, Patrick Cusick, Alexander Cusick, Connor Cusick, Sean Cusick, Sylvia Cusick, Kenneth Smith, James Smith, Molly Burke, and Daniel Burke, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Ryan, Amela, and Hailey, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she instilled in them the values of kindness, respect, and the importance of family bonds.

As we bid farewell to Catherine, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and filled with moments that will forever be cherished. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will be held in our hearts eternally. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will endure.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, January 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Middletown/Red Bank, New Jersey 07701, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Daniel.
