Catherine "Kate" R. DeAngelo, 87, Exeter, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston, with her family by her side.
Born Oct. 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Kunec Vasil.
Kate was a graduate of Exeter High School. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church (Corpus Christi Parish), Exeter, where she devoted many years as an active member practicing her faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas J. DeAngelo, in 1989, and her sister, Mildred Vasil.
Surviving are her sons, Nicholas DeAngelo, Wyoming, and Mark (Kim) DeAngelo, Exeter; daughter, Maria DeAngelo, Exeter; grandchildren, Alicia (Brian) Nice, Kayla Mattioli, Morgan (Jason) DeAngelo, Mitchell (Natasha) DeAngelo and Daniella, Elena and Julianna DeAngelo; brother, Tom (Frances) Vasil, PhD, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family around her kitchen table is what she cherished. Whether it was playing cards with her sister-in-laws, cooking for her guests, or teaching her grandchildren family recipes, that is what she loved most. She enjoyed her coffee and sweets, she could turn a ball of dough into the best pizza and nut rolls, and her piggies and pineapple squares were a favorite for so many.
We would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Wesley Village for taking such good care of our mother and making her stay there comfortable.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony of Padua Church (Corpus Christi Parish), 224 Memorial St., Exeter.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J., as celebrant.
Interment with rite of committal will be in St. John Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Care and Concern Committee of Corpus Christi Parish.
