Celebration of Life Service for Catherine Donovan will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 3921 Turner Warnell Road, Arlington, Texas 76001
Catherine Marie-José (Romanov) Donovan, age 64, passed through the veil on 24 September 2025 in Mansfield, Texas. Catherine was born on January 28, 1961, the cherished daughter of Jaroslav Romanov, a Ukrainian refugee from World War II, and Charlotte Suzanne Blanche Kell, a stunning beauty from France, in Reims, Marne, France. She grew up in the picturesque Champagne county, surrounded by the love of her large family which included three brothers and two beloved sisters, as well as numerous nieces who held a special place in her heart.
As a young woman, Catherine made the brave decision to leave her close-knit family to embark on a new adventure in the United States. It was in Syracuse, New York, that she found her lifelong partner, marrying Keith Thomas Donovan. Their union flourished for over 42 years, resulting in the joyful blessing of five children: Jasmine Melissa, Melody Sylvie, Alex Patrick, Kyle Elias, and Eliyana Katrina.
Catherine was a vivacious spirit who brought warmth and laughter into every room she entered. Her love for dancing and singing was contagious; she thrived on drawing others into the joyous rhythm of life with her. In her heart, she remained ever the French woman, delighting in beautiful fashion and exquisite cuisine. A truly remarkable gourmet chef, she took great pride in crafting delightful meals for her family and friends, creating memories around the dining table that will forever be cherished.
Her dedication to her family was unwavering. Simultaneously, she embraced various professional roles throughout her life, including work as a receptionist, medical assistant, substitute teacher, and homebuilder sales assistant. Yet, it was through her unwavering faith and commitment as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that Catherine found some of her greatest fulfillment. She relished her callings as a missionary, music director, and ministering sister, dedicating her time and talents to uplift others.
After a terrible three-year illness that gradually robbed her of her ability to dance and eventually to move at all, Catherine left this earthly realm to reunite with her beloved three-year-old daughter, Jasmine, who had preceded her to the Spirit World by 38 years. She was also welcomed by her older brother Marc, her devoted parents, and many ancestors who had been eagerly awaiting her return.
Catherine’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed by her husband Keith, her children Melody, Alex, Kyle, and Eliyana, as well as all those who were fortunate enough to know her illuminating presence. Her dance continues in the hearts of her family and friends, a reminder of the joy she shared throughout her life.
