Catherine Anna Evans, 99, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Saturday February 3, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. She was surrounded by love and family at her passing. They listened to music, sang songs, told stories, laughed, cried and prayed around Catherine. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Peoria, Illinois. The daughter of Lawrence O. and Helen G. (Paetz) Lulay Sr. Catherine married Robert E. Evans on November 25, 1955 in Decatur, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She worked for Christ Lutheran School and Manual High School for many years in several positions and for Szolds Department Store. Catherine was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Peoria.
Catherine is survived by daughters Cathy (Mike) Clayton of Peoria, Roberta Stewart of Metamora, Cindy (Fred) Moshier of Pekin; sons Robert (Teresa) Evans of Columbus, Indiana, Roger Evans of Chicago, Rory (Michael Cain) Evans of Atlanta, Georgia; stepson Donald Evans of East Peoria; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers, one great grandson, one great granddaughter and one son-in-law.
A visitation will be held on Friday February 9, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Christ Lutheran Church (2020 West Malone Street) of Peoria, Illinois. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Pastor Karl Eckhoff will officiate the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.
