Catherine Gutjahr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bizub Quinlan Funeral Home - Van Houten on Nov. 29, 2023.
Catherine Gutjahr passed away peacefully at home with her two children Jeff and Mary Beth by her side on November 28, 2023. She had recently celebrated her 92nd birthday.
A lifelong resident of Clifton, New Jersey, Catherine graduated in 1948 from Clifton High School and married her high school sweetheart John Gutjahr. Catherine was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Church in Clifton, and an active member of the Rosary Society. She started her career in a local law office, and later became a home maker when her children were born. Catherine had many lifelong friends. Most of which she had known since grammar school. She enjoyed visiting with them, having lunches out, and going to Broadway shows and movies. She loved New York. Catherine also loved antiques, could not pass up a yard sale, crafting, shopping, Costco, her Chinese cooking classes, web surfing on her iPad, and visiting historical sights. She loved going to Long Beach Island and visiting Old Barney! Her favorite foods were lobster, beefsteak, Pizza Town Pizza and King Crab! She was a fantastic cook as well. Her stuffed peppers were legendary.
Catherine is survived by her son, Jeffrey Gutjahr; her daughter, Mary Beth Gutjahr-Erickson; three grandchildren, Alyson Mosley (Joe), Jeremy Gutjahr (Riannon) and Keith Gutjahr (Colleen); three great grandchildren: Justin Melendez, Isabel Gutjahr (Frank) and Ryan Gutjahr; one Great-great grandson, Michael Corradino; Honorary daughter, "that kid", Joan Ricker; and favorite neighbor: John Giunta. She also has many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
