Catherine "Pittenger" Hayden

Catherine (Pittenger) Hayden, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 7 at Sunrise Senior
Living in Cuyahoga Falls surrounded by her family. She was a loving sister, wife, mother,
grandma and great grandma. Her beloved husband Paul greeted her in heaven where he has
been saving a place for her.

Cathy was born in Akron on May 4, 1936 to Madeline (Bernard) and William Pittenger. She was
a resident of Cuyahoga Falls for most of her life. She graduated from St. Vincent High School
and the University of Akron where she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha.

In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Paul Hayden, and they
enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his death in 2018. Together they raised six children in
Cuyahoga Falls.

Cathy was an avid reader of mysteries and true crime, enjoyed watching her Cleveland
Guardians, spending time with her family and loving on her pet cat. She loved to hold the new
babies in the family and delighted in keeping tabs on all the great-grandkids with pictures,
stories and videos. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a medical secretary
after her children were in school.

She will be missed and remembered dearly by her six children, 16 grandchildren and soon to be
8 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters Mary Ann Carlin and Patricia
Pittenger. She is survived by her children: Julie Hayden of Cuyahoga Falls; Barb (John) Gallina
of Carmel, IN; Steve (Suzy) Hayden of Dandridge, TN; Fran (Tom) Wilson of Mansfield; Pat
(Mary Ann) Hayden of Brimfield and Andy (Lori) Hayden of North Canton. Also surviving are her
loving sisters Peggy Rimedio and Eileen Koby and in-laws Michael Hayden, Dick (Irene)
Hayden, Anne (Joe) Funai and Margie (Lee) Fay.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Senior Living in Cuyahoga Falls and
Traditions Hospice for their compassionate and loving care to Cathy.

Per her request, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon
on Friday, March 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she has been a
member for over 60 years. The family will receive friends for one hour before from 11am to
12pm. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father McIntyre Fund at
Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near,
still loved, still missed and very dear.
