Cathy was born on May 10, 1952 in Charlotte, NC to George Alton and Jeanette Royster.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband Jerry W. Heglar, her son Derrick Heglar (Jennifer) and their children Dylan and Hayden, her brother George Skeet Royster, Jr., sister Elizabeth Cornwell (Joe), and many other extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. Cathy is predeceased by her sister in law Georgia Royster.

Cathy was always a super listener, a problem solver, and a real bright spot in our day at Carolina Beach School. She was she was energetic, motivated, and excited to be a teacher. She will be remembered by the faculty, students, and parents who were blessed by knowing her.
