Edward Anthony Deptula, born on March 11, 1943, in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was 82 years old.
Edward's life was marked by dedication, both in his professional endeavors and personal passions. As a Service Technician for the Port Washington Water District in New York, he was known for his meticulous work and commitment to serving his community. His keen interest in all things mechanical was evident not only in his career but also in his hobbies. Edward found joy in working on cars, building computers, and spending countless hours tinkering in his garage.
A man of varied interests, Edward relished the tranquility of golf and fishing, and cherished moments spent with friends, especially when dining by the water. Described by those who knew him as mellow and patient, he was ever willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. A true southerner at heart, Edward's warmth and kindness touched everyone he met.
Edward was a member of Silver Lake Baptist Church and a proud alumnus of Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York. His faith and education were important pillars throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Deptula; mother, Jennifer Kowalcyck; wife, Eileen Deptula; and brother, John Deptula.
Edward is survived by his loving daughters, Lori Mattera (Richard), Danielle Deptula, and Elaine Deptula; his dear sisters, Geraldine Bonnie and Linda Wolf (Peter); his cherished grandchildren, Ashley Giannino (Sal),Tyler Mattera, Zachary Dungey, Matthew Dungey, Sage Dungey; and great-grandchild, Luca Giannino. He leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Carol Pena, and step-children, Sam Kessler, Shane Kessler, and Megan Burdette.
The family will hold a private service on Saturday March 7, 2026, 11am at Silver Lake Baptist Church in Edward's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Edward's memory, honoring the dedicated care and comfort they extend to patients and families during life's most tender moments.
