Catherine M Jensen

Catherine Mary Jensen, 87, passed away on February 10, 2026. She was born on October 13, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph V. O'Grady and Ethyl M. O'Grady. Catherine (Cathy) was a resident of Dover, Delaware, for 49 years and previously lived in Leonardo, New Jersey.

While living in New Jersey, she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Glassboro State Teachers College.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover. Cathy worked as a kindergarten teacher for over 25 years at Holy Cross Catholic School in Dover. She loved her family, her church family, her friends, and her students. One of her greatest joys in life was to see her kindergarten children all grown up. She loved to tell the story of the time she got pulled over for speeding by a previous kindergarten student who was so proud to tell her, "look Mrs. Jensen I made it."

Cathy loved arts and crafts, gardening, and baking. Her grandchildren loved her snickerdoodle cookies. She was very creative, and her garden flourished under her care. She used her creative side to make Halloween costumes, classroom bulletin boards, room decorations, banners, and signs for her garden.

Cathy cherished time spent with her family. She brought joy to many through her teaching and love for life. Cathy was married to the love of her life, George Jensen, for over 64 years. She loved to brag about her sons and her grandchildren.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ethyl O'Grady, her brother, Peter O'Grady, and her sister, Jane Ransley.

She is survived by her husband George; her sons, George Christian Jensen and his wife Terri; Paul Eric Jensen and his wife Carol; her sister Nancy Devlin; her grandchildren Erica Burwell and her husband Michael, Eric Jensen and his wife Katie, Tara Jensen, Anthony Jensen, and Connor Jensen; and her great-grandchildren Michael Burwell III, Lyric Jensen, and Scottie Burwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12 Noon February 19, 2026 at The Church of the Holy Cross 631 S. State St. Dover, DE 19901. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Donations in Cathy's memory may be made to the Education Fund for Holy Cross Elementary School of Dover, De.
