Catherine M. "Kay" Johnson

Catherine "Kay" M. Johnson, age 88, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at her residence following an extended illness.

Kay was born on November 19, 1937, in Kenton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby (née Hines) Mulligan. She spent much of her life in Ohio where she met her husband of 64 years, Joe L. Johnson. After raising her daughters, Kay and her husband became winter residents of Bonita Springs in 1985, when they purchased their home in Bonita Bay. In 2017, Bonita Springs became her permanent home.

Kay was a graduate of Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business. While there, she attended classes in their Fashion Design Program to hone her already exceptional seamstress skills. Over the years, Kay used her design and sewing skills to fashion matching outfits for her young daughters, create beautiful draperies and home accent pieces, and tailor unique clothing for herself. She also was an excellent cook and enjoyed using her culinary talents to entertain friends and make wonderful meals for family.

After relocating to Florida, Kay enjoyed golfing with friends and various groups at Bonita Bay. She participated in a bible study group as a member of Bay Presbyterian Church as well as an investment group in the local community. Throughout her life, Kay enjoyed traveling with family and friends on numerous golf trips and cruises.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe L. Johnson; her two daughters, Tracy L. Sabransky and her husband, Ron, of Novelty, Ohio, and Karen S. Johnson of Palm City, Florida; her two cherished granddaughters, Kelly Sabransky and Amy Sabransky; and her sister, Margaret Renshler and her husband, Ken, of Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, Florida. A service will be held at 2:30 PM, with Pastor Patrick Womack of Bay Presbyterian Church officiating.
