Catherine Margaret LaPorte

Karen La Porte (Catherine Peterson) was born September 28, 1926 in Crosby, Minnesota to CJR Peterson & Stella (Carr) Peterson. Karen passed on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2023 with her 6 daughters caring for her until the end.
Karen met Joe La Porte on a ski train and was married May 26, 1951. She was a devout Catholic at St. Charles Borromeo. Mom was an easygoing spirit, very patient and kind. Karen & Joe enjoyed the outdoors, boating with the TOA and skiing at Crystal Mt. The railroad group enjoyed the Overland RV Club and many family outings.
Karen grew up with brothers Andrew, Tom, Don Peterson and sister Mary Ellen Grenier. She is survived by daughters: Carrie Kay, Connie (Tom) McCormick, Carole (Scott) Shelton, Chris (Rick) Snell, Cindy (Jim) Cochran and Cherrie La Porte (Jorge) Ayala. 9 grandchildren: Mandy, Nathan, Rania, Kayla, Jessica, Ben, Dana, Ryan & Jared. 5 great grandchildren: John Thomas (JT), Annmarie, Illiana, Estelle and Cora.
Her biggest passion was taking care of Joe and their girls. Mom will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home and internment at Calvary Cemetery.
