Catherine Mary Logue (Leary), of Weymouth passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 28, 2025, with her family by her side. Catherine was raised and educated in Dorchester where she graduated from Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in 1959. She was born in Boston to Timothy and Julia both of Co. Cork, Ireland.
Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Logue of Co. Donegal, Ireland, and her brothers Timothy, Daniel and her sister Patricia. She is survived by her loving children Daniel Logue and his wife Amy of Utah, Thomas Logue of Boston, Kevin Logue and his wife Sherri of Connecticut, and Patricia Downes and her husband Michael of Weymouth. Also survived by her adoring grandchildren Aidan, Teagan, Lilly, Julia, Sophia, and Chloe, and her brother Morgan Leary.
Like the Trinity, Catherine's life has always had three constant themes: faith, family, and her Irish heritage. She was almost as proud of her Irish roots as she was her family, most especially her grandchildren whom she loved so much. Catherine's faith was paramount and undeterred. She will be remembered for inspiring those around her, especially her family, to hold faith as a compass to guide them through the trials of life.
Cathy met her husband Tom at the Irish dances in Boston, and they married in 1962. They first lived in Dorchester before they settled in Quincy by Sacred Heart Church. Cathy lived there for more than 40 years. Cathy returned to school obtaining her associate’s degree in 1988 with honors from Quincy College. She worked at John Hancock in an administrative position as well as worked at Voya before retiring.
Once retired Cathy dedicated herself to her grandchildren. She enjoyed picking up the girls at Saint Francis and taking them for their weekly treat at the Yogurt Bar. She thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren whether traveling to UT or CT to visit or having them for sleepovers or joining them for Sunday dinners and truly becoming a part of the community here in South Weymouth. She met many friends who welcomed her into her new Parish, and she enjoyed seeing them at pick up and all the SFX school events over the years, she was deeply connected to the Parish and loved going to mass where she would see friends; too many to list.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Catherine on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 9-10am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA 02190. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Church in S. Weymouth at 11am. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
