Catherine Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Mar. 7, 2026.
Catherine Moore (nee Donohue), age 97, passed away peacefully in her Canton home on March 4, 2026. Kathy was born and raised in the small village of Ardmore in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. She was the cherished daughter of Sean and Barbara Donohue.

Beloved wife of the late William E. Moore. Mother of William E. Moore Ill and his wife Karen of Mansfield, Sean P. Moore of Norwood, Mary E. Ricci and her husband John of Stoughton, and Kathleen A. Breen and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury. Grandmother of William E. Moore IV, Timothy Moore and his wife Kerri, Shannon Moore and her husband-to-be Tommy, Michaela and Taylor Breen and Thomas Ricci. Great grandmother of Calvin and Ronan Moore. Sister of the late Michael, Johnny, Mary, Barbara, Padric, Ann, and Kieron.

Kathy's early years were filled with hard work, love and laughter in a small thatched-roof cottage with her parents and 7 siblings. When she was a bit older, she found herself working in Galway, Dublin and London, all the while somehow learning to speak, read, and write English, since the Gaelic language was all she had ever known.

Then, one day in her early twenties, she had the opportunity to travel across the sea to America. Leaving all she ever knew and her entire family, she travelled on the SS United States to New York City. She made great friends and loved going to all the Irish dances in the city. She loved dancing throughout her entire life.

Later, she ended up in Boston and soon met the love of her life, William (Bill) Moore. And it was the beginning of a love story that lasted over 60 years until Bill's passing in 2019.

They would eventually call Canton home for over six decades, raising four children. They loved to travel, especially to Ireland, Cape Cod, and Naples, Florida. They loved walking and going to the gym. Amazingly, Kathy was still driving herself to the gym regularly up until she was in her early 90's.

Kathy and Bill were regular parishioners at St. John's Parish in Canton. They were devout Catholics.

Family was the center of Kathy's life. She adored spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved having her family all around, saying, "I love this-Togetherness."

Those who knew Kathy will remember her for her strength of character, her infectious fun, her joking and ability to make people laugh, and her amazing spirit. She was warm, loving, encouraging, cheerful, and resilient. She was always looking at the bright side of things, often saying, "This too shall pass." Kathy was a strong force and a gentle soul all at once.

Kathy was wholeheartedly loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
