Catherine Prater of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at the age of 98. She was the wife of George Prater of Bradenton, Florida who died in December 1996.
Catherine retired as a tax auditor for the state of West Virginia. She loved to travel and had great interest in architecture and design.
Catherine has a son, Jeffrey Prater (Lois Prater) of Bradenton, Florida and a daughter, Elaine Chambers (John Chambers) of Palo Alto, California. Catherine is also survived by a sister, Rose Ellen Wells (Mike Wells) of Mt. Orab, Ohio. She has 5 grandchildren., Jennifer Prater, Travis Prater, David Prater (Karen Prater), John J. Chambers (Ashley Chambers) and Lindsay Chambers and one deceased grandson, Charles Prater. She has 4 great grandchildren, Victoria Prater, David B. Prater, Autumn Chambers and Jack Chambers.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Curtis of Denver, North Carolina and her son, Gregory Prater of Bradenton, Florida. She is also proceeded in death by her mother and father, Hallie and Everett Hager, and brothers and sisters, Lovey Lee Hager, Joyce Ann Hager, Lowell Hager, James Hager, Ronald Hager, Clara Gorrell Baldridge, Charles Hager and Shirlee Branham.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Catherine Prater at Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, Florida on Friday, September 26 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Palma Sola Cemetery.
