Gary Ehrfurth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyndahl Funeral Home on Mar. 21, 2026.
Gary Allen Ehrfurth, age 68, of Green Bay passed away after a five-year battle with ALS, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Bellin Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Gary was born August 15, 1957 in Green Bay, son of Fred and Marlene (Ohm) Ehrfurth. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1975 and received an Associate Degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute.

On November 3, 1979, he married Laura (Roy), beginning a partnership that would span a lifetime. Their story began in 1974 at Sure Way grocery store, where they first met as coworkers.

Gary dedicated more than four decades of his career to Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC), where he worked as a mechanical designer. Known for his precision, creativity, and steady work ethic, he took great pride in his craft and the relationships he built along the way. After 40 years of service, he retired in January 2020, leaving a legacy of hard work and quiet excellence that colleagues and friends will remember.

He had a lifelong love of sports, both on the field and as a fan. Whether it was golf, basketball, softball, pickleball, or racquetball, he enjoyed staying active and competing. A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, he rarely missed a chance to cheer them on from home or in the stadium.

Gary also found great joy in staying active and exploring the world around him. He was a regular at the YMCA, where he built lasting friendships while keeping up his running routine. His love of travel took him to many memorable places, including visits to national parks, relaxing trips to the beaches of Florida, time spent in Germany, and cherished moments at Legend Lake in Wisconsin.

He took great pride in caring for his home and looking out for those around him. In the winter, he could often be found out early with his snowblower, clearing not only his own driveway but those of his neighbors as well, always willing to lend a hand without being asked. In warmer months, his lawn was a point of pride - perfectly edged, neatly maintained, and a reflection of his attention to detail.

Survivors include his wife Laura, son Steve Ehrfurth (Tyler Anschutz), Minneapolis, MN; siblings Debbie Campbell (Jim), The Villages, FL; Joel Ehrfurth (Tina), Green Bay, WI; and Tammy Fraatz (Randy), Bradenton, FL. Laura's siblings: Doris Nix (Bob), Milwaukee, WI; Alice Roeser (Dick), Green Bay, WI; and Bob Roy (Jane), Green Bay, WI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Marlene Ehrfurth and Laura's parents Venance and Agnes (LeBlanc) Roy.

The family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit nurses at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice. We are very grateful to Sue Brown, Maria Szymanski, and Lu Vang for their compassionate care of our Gary throughout the years. The support they gave our family will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, March 26, 2026 at St. Mark's Ministries, De Pere, WI. Burial will take place at Nicolet Memorial Gardens at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The ALS Association www.als.org. Contributions will help support those affected by ALS, advance ongoing research and provide caregiver support.
