Cathy was born October 1, 1958, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Russell K. and Betty Lou Bennett Brummett.
Cathy, a devoted mother to her noble sons, Jon (Melanie) Sandlin of Westfield, Josh (Casey Stinson) Sandlin of Seymour, grandchildren; Noah, Brady, Jonus, Lainey, Jace, and Quinton Sandlin; siblings, Suzie Brummett Weddle of Columbus, Cindy (Glenn) Brummett Lawyer of Seymour, Rusty (Cathy) Brummett, also of Columbus; her faithful German Shepherd, Bo along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; fiance, Mac Foster and brother-in-law, Bob Weddle.
Cathy reveled in the joys of motherhood and loved being a grandmother. Her interests included the art of horseback riding, camping with friends and family and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts.
Her passion for life's simple pleasures, her unwavering love for her family, and her dedication to her calling as a nurse, were the qualities that define her.
Cathy was known as being a compassionate care giver. She served as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over three decades. Her hands, skilled in the art of healing, brought comfort to many souls, most recently at Cedar Creek Senior Living but also at many other assisted living facilities, where she was revered as an amazing caregiver. Her heart knew no bounds in her passion for her patients.
In keeping with the family's request, a memorial service honoring Cathy's life will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Robert Lemmond officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery following the memorial service Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson County Humane Society or Reins to Recovery-Seymour.
