Catherine Schott Obituary

Catherine Lela McMinn Schott, 90, of Lebanon, PA passed away on October 17, 2025. She was the wife of Leonard R Schott to whom she was married for 69 years. She is also survived by her children Peggy Progin and husband Steve, Leonard Frank Schott and wife Bonnie, and Jane Yorty and husband Bob. She had seven grandchildren – Kris Progin, Karen Ditzler, Maggie Progin, Len Schott, Trisha Truax, Emma Moreland and Sarah Moreland. Her eight great-grandchildren include Nicholas Nowack, Maddie Ditzler, Mela Worley, Jack Worley, Nolan Schott, Quinn Schott, Cassidy Truax and Cody Truax. Catherine was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Cornwall High School. She worked on the Schott family farm with her husband through the 1950’s and 60’s. She was an active member of the Society of Farm Women, eventually serving as State President for two years. A life-long active member of Quentin United Church of Christ, she served in many capacities, especially following her love of music as a choir member and director of the Junior and Senior Choir. Catherine also served loyally with the Women’s Auxiliary of the Quentin Volunteer Fire Company. She always volunteered to serve in the kitchen for the fire carnivals, church picnics, and too many other events to mention. She eventually managed the Eatery kitchen at the Lebanon Area Fairgrounds for over 20 years. Catherine was a breast cancer survivor, proudly participating in the annual Relay for Life. She had friends literally all over the world, particularly her second family from Pittsburgh who she loved dearly. For Catherine there were no strangers, only friends that she had not yet met. She was known to have long conversations with wrong numbers. For her community involvement she was inducted into the Lebanon County Women’s Hall of Fame. There will be a memorial service for Catherine at Quentin UCC on Saturday, November 1 with visitation starting at 9:30 and service at 11 AM. Interment at the Quentin Bismarck Cemetery at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Quentin UCC.
