Catherine E. (Swank) Sigle, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 26, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on September 20, 1929, in Dayton, OH, to George and Dorothy Swank.
She married Clarence H. Sigle November 6, 1948, in Fairborn, OH. They raised their family on the farm southwest of Council Grove. Together, they raised five sons: Lawrence (Larry), Ernest, Russell, Chris and John, and two daughters: Ann Ward and Jean Province.
Kay was devoted to her faith and was a long-time member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She was very active in the parish. She taught Bible School and Sunday School for over 40 years. She enjoyed working at the telephone office and was a CNA at the nursing home. She also volunteered at the Thrift Store for many, many years. She loved art (painting), gardening and traveling. Kay’s greatest love was her faith, family and friends. She will always be remembered for her kindness to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ieda Bond, husband Clarence, sons Larry, Ernest and Russell, and granddaughters Amy Sigle and Lisa Province.
Kay is survived by her daughters: Ann (Robert) Ward and Jean (Robert) Province; sons: Chris (Sharmon) Sigle and John (Heather) Sigle. Kay was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A rosary will begin at 6:00pm, Tuesday, October 28th, at St. Rose, with a visitation following until 8:00, at St. Rose Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Altar Society and may be sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
