Catherine Thuney Obituary
Urbana - Catherine May Thuney, 86, of Urbana passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
She was born in Urbana on June 25, 1939, the daughter of Stanley Russell and Mary Catherine (Powell) Slack. She married Dale Thuney on Oct. 17, 1959, in Urbana.
Catherine is survived by two daughters, Janet (Mark) Thuney Liberman of Roswell, Ga., and Susan Thuney of Champaign; one son, Steve Thuney of Urbana; and one granddaughter, Katie Thuney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale; and brother Daniel Slack.
She was an office manager for a financial planning agency for many years.
Catherine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Urbana, the United Commercial Travelers for 53 years, Carle Auxiliary and the United Methodist Women's Group.
She enjoyed reading and mentoring children. Catherine also enjoyed spending time with her children and granddaughter.
