It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine ("Cathy") Lucille Vincent, age 63-a woman whose life overflowed with love, laughter, creativity, and a nurturing spirit that touched everyone she met.
Cathy was born on September 23, 1962, to Joseph L. Metal and Geraldine R. Metal. She grew up in Garden Grove, CA, where she graduated from Santiago High School. With a passion for farming, animals, and especially horses, she went on to attend Orange Coast College, earning an Associate of Arts degree in agriculture. During this time, she worked tirelessly-including holding a job at Toys "R" Us-to achieve one of her early dreams: owning a horse, Teddy.
In 1977 she met her husband of 34 years, Ernest O. Vincent. The two were married in 1984 and in 1989 settled in Upland, CA to raise their two daughters, Ashley and Briana.
Cathy embraced motherhood with her whole heart, taking on the role of a devoted homemaker with creative force. She was a woman of many gifts-an artist, cook, baker, seamstress, and maker of all things beautiful. These talents infused every corner of her life. She poured her creativity into her family and into her community, always ready to lend a hand. Whether cooking or baking for fundraisers, crafting decorations and sewing costumes for her children's school productions, chaperoning field trips, or simply helping a neighbor, Cathy lived a life of selfless generosity.
In time, Cathy returned to her childhood home in Garden Grove, where she continued to share her talents and brighten the days of those around her. She had an extraordinary ability to find joy in small, everyday moments, laughing often and savoring the simple beauty that others might overlook. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, painting, drawing, cooking from scratch, and all things crafty. She was an avid student of the Bible and loved God and Jesus. Her love for white hearts, white serving platters, and old-time, country-western charm filled her home with warmth and character.
Above all, Cathy loved being a mother-and later, a grandmother. But her motherly nature extended beyond her family to anyone fortunate enough to be welcomed into her life. Her hugs were famously warm, her listening genuine, and her encouragement heartfelt. She made others feel seen and celebrated. Her nurturing nature and unwavering kindness were undeniable. She taught, through example, that love is not only something we feel but something we do-patiently, consistently, and without expectation.
Cathy was predeceased by her father Joe, her mother Gerrie, and her brother Douglas M. Metal. She will be laid to rest near them.
She is survived by her daughters Ashley (Ian) LeBlanc and Briana (Brandon) Wisely; her four grandchildren-Aurora and Merida LeBlanc, and Ryan and Jaxon Wisely; her former husband Ernie Vincent; her stepmother Susan Metal; her sister Rebecca (Thomas) Childs; her brother Lawrence (April) Portwood; her cousins Laura (Kevin) Hopkins and Lynne (Tom) Schlarbaum; and nieces and nephews Roger (Kristi) Childs, Madelyn Childs, Arden Portwood, Lauryn Portwood, Patrick Childs, Everett Childs, and Ophelia Childs.
Although Cathy left this world far too early, we are forever grateful and honored to have been present to her love and generosity. While our hearts ache, we take solace in knowing her love remains with us-steady, enduring, and ever-present.
Services will be held on December 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Park (14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683), with reception to follow.
