Catherine Elaine "Cathy" Way

Catherine "Cathy" Elaine Way, age 60 of Chappell, NE passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, March 04, 2026. Per her wishes cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Lodgepole, NE with Ted and Judy Long Officiating.

Catherine Elaine Way was born on May 17, 1965, in Santa Barbara, CA to Elaine Green (Byers) and Harry Green.

She found great comfort in her faith, accepting the Lord as her Savior and being baptized on July 14, 2019, and faithfully served Him until she was called home and was delivered into His hands on March 4, 2026.

Cathy was known for her unending devotion and love for her family. She was a strong and determined mother who raised three boys on her own, always putting her children first and making sure they were cared for, supported, and loved. Family was the center of her world, and she carried that love into every part of her life.

She also shared a special bond with her "little sister", Dawn, whom she loved dearly. Cathy enjoyed gardening each spring, decorating cakes for friends and family, and cooking. Oh, how she loved cooking for everyone, and by that, it was in abundance. You could never say that she skimped on the amount of food she prepared. She was always one of the first to volunteer for whatever needed doing.

An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Cathy loved camping, shooting and fishing. The outdoors brought her peace and joy, especially the time she spent at her oasis on the farm. Her passion for the outdoors also made working at Cabela's the perfect fit, and she truly enjoyed her position there.

Earlier in her career, Cathy also worked for the IRS and in several other positions over the years. It was while working at B&B Sales that she met Jim Way, the man who would become her husband. Cathy and Jim were married on September 7, 2001, where they blended their families together. In 2011, Cathy and Jim welcomed two granddaughters, Alyssa and Jazzlyn, into their Chappell home, making them a family of 4.

Her siblings include sister Teresa Green of North Carolina, and her brothers Beau Green of Colorado, and Jason Green of Michigan.

Survivors include her husband Jim Way, granddaughters Alyssa and Jazzlyn Way, sons Brandon and Rebecca Green, Brock Byington, Jonathon Byington, Stepchildren LaNae and Darrin Fehringer, John Way, and Matthew Mobley. GrandPrides; Dominick, McKenna, Aasha, Tre, LaKrisha, Collin and numerous grandchildren she didn't get a chance to meet yet. Her father and mother- in-law Mac and Ruth Way, brothers-in-law Dan Way and Mike, Anita Barton and Cathy's stepfather Richard Gore and stepmother Carol Green.

Cathy is proceeded in death by her parents Elaine and Harry Green, her brother Charles Green and sister-in-law Gloria Way.

She leaves a void that cannot be filled. She will be sadly missed.
