Catherine Eileen (Steinke) Williams departed this life on Sunday, June 2, 2024, to return to God and to rest at last, her body made whole again.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Alva "Butch"; her sons Alva "Bink" (Shari), and Andy "Boop" (Mary); grandchildren, Austin, Shelby (Dylan), Hannah (Zach), and Sydney. She is also survived by the absolute joys of her life, her great grandchildren Sterling, Sebastian, Stratton, Wallen, Savannah and Sloane.
On September 19, 1949, Cathy became the seventh child to be born to Arthur & Marvel Steinke. Surviving siblings include Jim, Joe, Tom, Lizzie Butt, and George. Siblings who passed before her are Bob, Darlene, Billy, and her Irish twin Myrna (Sissy).
As a 30+ year employee of Quaker Oats, Cathy was dedicated to feeding the world. A mainstay in the elevator department, "Cathy C" was loved and respected by her co-workers, many of whom remained her dear friends even after retirement. Cathy's grandchildren have fond memories of Grams bringing home snacks from the Quaker Store for them to try.
Cathy was a huge Hawkeye basketball and football fan. Every Sunday you could find Cathy watching sports in her garage or living room. Safety-conscious friends knew that you shouldn't interrupt Cathy during this sacred time.
Cathy was a strong and generous woman. She loved God, her country and her family. She will be missed beyond compare. Per Cathy's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House is an organization that offers a warm, home-like environment where patients can live their last days in peace and dignity, surrounded by their loved ones. The Hospice House was invaluable to our family during Cathy's passing. Memorials may be directed to this incredible program.
