Timothy Thomas Carroll was born on August 27, 1943 in Larchmont, New York and died on July 12, 2025 in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Tim graduated from Mamaroneck High School and attended Quincy University and University of Iowa. Out of college Tim served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the State of Iowa until he moved to and worked in California through the 1980's. In the 1990's he returned to Des Moines where he worked at the State of Iowa in Mental Health and Disability Services and at Principal Financial Group until his retirement in 2010.
Tim was a friend and mentor to many people in the Des Moines area. For nearly 29 years Tim attended Wesley House meetings, providing his wisdom, support, wit and encouragement to all who entered that revered basement. He often shared about the graces received during his life's journey and provided gentle reminders to do "positive unrelated activity" when life felt too much to handle.
Tim was proceeded in death by his parents Louis & Lina (Sidney) Carroll, brother Terrence and sister Mary. He is survived by his partner Bobby Kennedy, by his brother Michael and sister Sidney, and by his many friends. We will miss Tim's wry humor, his perspective on life and most especially his experience, strength and hope. Our journeys will not be the same without him, but we surely were graced by Tim's accompaniment on this road we shared.
Tim requested no funeral service. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
