Cathie Lynn Hooper, 77, of Burleson, TX, passed away April 28 after a long illness.
Cathie was born June 16, 1947, in Toledo Ohio. She was the daughter of Silas and Mildred Hooper, and was the second of five children. She received her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.
Cathie met Dr. Efrain Enrique Leguizamon while working at the Cleveland Clinic in 1967, and they were married in 1968. They had two sons, Ernesto Efrain and Luis Enrique Leguizamon, before they divorced in 1974.
Cathie moved to Houston in 1980, and worked as a paralegal for a few years, before transitioning into pharmaceutical sales for the rest of her career. She retired in 2011.
For 20 years, Cathie was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Houston, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Sunday school teacher, and a frequent volunteer and organizer for religious events. Fluent in Spanish, she went as a translator on several medical missions to El Salvador. She also taught Adult English-Second Language classes in the Houston Area, until 2017.
Cathie was also a dedicated grandmother to her two grandchildren, Ernesto Enrique and Luis Alejandro. She moved to Burleson, TX with her family in 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jody Rey. She is survived by her sisters Debra Liebengood and Pam Jilek, her brother Dan Hooper, as well as both sons and her two grandsons.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on May 15, 2025, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Burleson, Texas, with Inurnment at Burleson Memorial Cemetery and a memorial lunch to follow back at St. Ann Catholic Church.
