Cathie Slimp

Cathie Slimp July 27, 1944 - November 16, 2023 Catherine "Cathie" Rae Slimp passed peacefully on November 16, 2023, at her home in Jacksboro Texas surrounded by her family.

Cathie was born to CB Leatherwood and Marjorie Broadstone Leatherwood on July 27, 1944, in Sugarland, Texas; always said she was the sweetest by being born in Sugarland.

Cathie attended School in Jacksboro before moving to Kermit, Texas in 1961 where she was class favorite her freshman year. She was in choir in school and church and played the piano.

Cathie lived many chapters in her life. Married her childhood sweetheart Stephen Michael Slimp on July 1, 1982 in Fairfax, VA. They lived in Ogden, Utah while Mike was in the Forrest Service, then moved to Jacksboro and was co-owner at Michael's Menswear. Later they moved to Fort Worth and then settled back in Jacksboro for the remainder of her life.

Cathie is preceded in death by her parents and brothers CB Leatherwood Jr. and Raleigh Leatherwood.

Her entire world is her family and she is Survived by Husband Stephen Michael Slimp, Children Stacie Poynor of Jacksboro, Stan Slimp (Samantha) of San Antonio, Brian Slimp (Melissa) of Galveston, Tonya Armstrong (Luke) of Jacksboro, Stephenie Moore (Seth) of Texas City. 7 Grandchildren Deryk Poynor of Fort Worth, Mason Armstrong of Wichita Falls, Madeline Slimp of Santa Cruz, CA, Maylan Armstrong of Quanah, Tx, Meredith Slimp of San Antonio, Payne Slimp of Galveston, Tx, and Shepherd Moore of Texas City, Tx; Sister Tina Nolen (Bob) of San Angelo, Tx. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends, and last but not least her Guardian Angel and beloved dog Phoebe Slimp.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
