Cathleen Elizabeth Wendel

Cathleen (Turnidge) Wendel went to her heavenly home Saturday morning, March 14th. Her husband John, son Dana and daughter Kristin were at her side. She was born on January 29, 1948 in Salem, Oregon to Don and Ruth Turnidge.

Cathy grew up in the Talbot and Dever-Conner communities where her family farmed and she and her sister Candace enjoyed riding their horses.

She graduated from Salem Academy High School in 1966 and shortly after married her High School sweetheart, John Wendel. They made their home in the Dever-Conner community of Albany. They had two children, son Dana Scott Wendel and daughter Kristin Dawn Holcomb.

Cathy was a homemaker and part-time secretary for her father's business as well as other family businesses over the years. She had a passion for horses which was later replaced by the horsepower of classic Corvettes. She and John were members of the Beaver State Corvette Club and enjoyed cruising and showing their Corvettes.

Cathy was known by family and friends as an amazing cook and baker. Feeding her family was her love language. Affectionately known to her grandchildren as well as others as "Nana", her meals and baked goods will be remembered fondly and her recipes will be passed on for generations to come.

Cathy loved the Lord and trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior and that faith was integral to her life.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father and mother Don and Ruth Turnidge. She is survived by her husband John Wendel, son Dana (Kristine) Wendel, daughter Kristin (Brad) Holcomb, sister Candace Turnidge, grandchildren Johnny (Alicia) Wendel, Raechel (Mark) Graham, Haley Holcomb, Hudson Holcomb and four great grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest at the family cemetery. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
