Cathy M. Burrows, 66, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home.
Cathy was born October 19, 1959, in Merrill, daughter of the late Vilas ‘Dubby’ Anton Emerich and Shirley (Peterson) Emerich. Cathy graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1978. She worked for several years at the former Pamida in Merrill and was a longtime employee of Walmart in Merrill. She retired several years ago due to health issues.
For the past 11 years, Cathy struggled with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Against all odds, she survived much longer than any doctor thought she would. As a result of the treatment Cathy endured, other health issues arose.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her pets. Cathy also enjoyed watching TV shows, working on word puzzles, reading, and listening to music. Her children remember many car rides with their mom “jamming to music.”
Survivors include her children, Jennifer Burrows (James Pahl) of Wausau, Anton ‘Tony’ Burrows (Casie Woellner) of Merrill, and Cassandra (Eric) Voight of Plover; five grandchildren, Madalia (Damien) Benzinger, Colton Burrows, Leighton Burrows, Evelyn Voight, and Creed Voight; one great granddaughter, Millie Benzinger; three brothers, John (Linda) Emerich of Merrill, Gary (Barb) Emerich of Merrill, and Patrick (Beryl) Emerich of Athens; and her former spouse, Tim (Judy) Burrows of Weston.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Vilas ‘Dubby’ Anton Emerich; and mother and stepfather, Shirley and Earl Thompson.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
