Cathy Marlene Brown Chapman, 76, of Gas City, passed away with her loving sons by her side at 11:35 am on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Twin City Healthcare in Gas City. She was born on Monday, October 18, 1948, to Robert and Jan (Poling) Wray.
Cathy was raised as a "Navy brat" who grew up in Rhode Island and Florida and then graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1966. She worked as a long-time florist at Marsh North. She was an elementary teacher's aide at Riverview in Marion and taught swimming lessons. She was a member of Eastview Wesleyan Church where she was involved in Bible Study. Cathy enjoyed arts and crafts, especially cross-stitch and arranging flowers. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel. More than anything, Cathy cherished being a grandma.
Cathy is survived by her sons, William R. (Lisa) Chapman of La Fontaine, Michael S. (Kimberly) Chapman of Gas City; granddaughters, Brynn Chapman, Kenzie Chapman, Kailyn Chapman, and Emma Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Navy Lieutenant Commander Robert J. and Jan Wray; the father of her children, William "Bill" G. Chapman; brother, John Wray, and former husband, Daniel Brown.
An open invitation is extended for family and friends to a graveside service with an urn burial scheduled at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Estates of Serenity Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Flowers have been entrusted to Hometown Petals and More in Gas City, Indiana.
