Cathy Cox of Caro, age 71, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 28, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Cathy was born March 26, 1954 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late John Arthur & Josephine Elizabeth (McDonald) Taylor. Most of her childhood was spent in Bad Axe, except for a brief time when her family lived in Arizona. Cathy graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1972 and took a position with the Caro Regional Center as a certified nursing assistant in a career that spanned nearly thirty years. Cathy was united in marriage with Garry L. Cox, Sr. on May 22, 1986 and cherished thirty-three years together before his passing on August 11, 2019. Cathy was quiet by nature, but was never afraid to take on any task in front of her. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved Arizona Jackass, Charlie. Through the years, she also loved her three chihuahuas, two yorkies, and countless outdoor cats. Cathy was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, and enjoyed bowling, gardening, ceramics, fishing, hunting, and time spent at her cabin in Atlanta, Michigan. She was also fascinated by Native American culture and had an extensive collection of indigenous memorabilia.
Left to cherish Cathy’s memory are her son and his wife, Rick & Tracylynn Cox of Caro; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Taylor of Kansas; a special nephew she loved as a son, Mike Kish of Caro; and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Cathy was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Taylor.
Cathy’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Heartland Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Cathy during her final days.
A graveside committal service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Cathy’s family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Funeral Home – Caro on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Cass River Pet Friendz.
