Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moores Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 31, 2026.
Cathy Ann Joslyn Crawley was born on November 5, 1964, in Wahiawa, Hawaii, to Peggy Olgiati Joslyn and James Eugene Joslyn, Sr. From the very beginning, Cathy lived with heart, determination, and a quiet strength that shaped every part of her life. She passed away on March 22, 2026, at her residence in
Athens, Georgia.
She was a proud graduate of Elbert County High School and Georgia College and State University. Cathy dedicated 35 years of her professional life to Georgia College and State University's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship, retiring in 2018 as Director of Financial Aid. Helping students pursue their dreams of higher education was never just her job-it was her calling.
Cathy was widely respected in her profession and generously shared her knowledge with colleagues across Georgia and the region. She served the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators in many leadership roles, including President from 2013–2014, and represented Georgia through the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. In 2019, she received GASFAA's highest honor, the Donald E. Payton Award for Lifetime Achievement.
While Cathy was accomplished professionally, she found her deepest joy in life's quieter moments. She loved photography, reading, genealogy, art, nature documentaries, flowers, and music. She often described her perfect sense of peace as a cozy evening-the gentle sound of a "faux" crackling fire, a book on her Kindle, a warm cup of chai, her favorite quilted blanket, and her beloved cat, Ginger, curled up beside her. Cathy embraced simplicity and comfort, living what she lovingly called "absolute soothing bliss" of hygge. While she embraced the beauty and quiet simplicity she created in her home, she held a special place in her heart for state of Maine and its rugged coast.
Cathy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Clint Crawley and his wife Donna of Savannah, Georgia and Ben Crawley and his partner Haley of Rome, Georgia. She was extremely proud of Clint, Donna, Ben and Haley for their accomplishments and loved her role as B-Ma(grandmother) to Kyleigh and Berkleigh, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Joslyn and his wife Delight of Stetson, Maine, and her sister, Connie Coon and her husband Charles of Watkinsville, Georgia along with many extended family members and dear friends she kept close, no matter the distance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, whom she held close in her heart throughout her life.
In keeping with Cathy's wishes, no funeral service will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Forest Hills Memorial Park in
Elberton, Georgia.
Those wishing to honor her memory may make a contribution to the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Memorial Scholarship Fund or to a
charity of their choice.
Cathy will be remembered for her kindness, perseverance, her love of learning, and the countless lives she touched. Her presence made the world steadier, warmer, and more hopeful-and she will be deeply missed.
