Cathy Haigwood was born December 17, 1959 at Harper Clinic in Monette to Jimmy Dunigan of Black Oak, AR. She graduated from Monette High School in 1978 as Valedictorian of her class. Upon graduation she went to work for First Security Bank of Paragould. She left there and went to work for Monette State Bank in Monette, then went to work for Associated Natural Gas in Leachville. Later she advanced to regional office manager in Blytheville until her declining health forced her to retire. Cathy always had a job, starting with helping her brother deliver Jonesboro Sun Newspapers in Black Oak at the age of 8.
After retirement, Cathy enjoyed traveling and the many trips with her brother and his family. She also enjoyed flea markets and auctions.
Cathy married Steve Haigwood in 1980 and they made their home on the farm at Brown Spur until they purchased their current home in Monette.
Cathy is survived by her husband Steve of the home, a daughter Kelly (Jesse) Flye and two wonderful grandsons, Cooper and Dawson Flye of Jonesboro, a brother Dr. Rodger (Annie) Dunigan, their son and special nephew Curtis Dunigan all of Springdale, AR.
She was preceded in death by her father Jimmie Dunigan and father and mother-in-law Dewayne and Lois Haigwood.
Cathy had special friends and "partners in crime" Cindy Hatch, Lorie Brickell, Jo Wicker and Linda Hansen. She also had a special caregiver, Elizabeth Contreras. All these women helped make her end of life better. Special thanks to Dierksen Hospice for their loving care.
Per Cathy's request, burial will be private with no visitation or service. She asked that any donations be made to the ALS Foundation or Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF) (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of grandson Cooper Flye).
